Semana 25--The Time I Became Best Friends with a Pole for 48 Hours
HEY EVERYONE SORRY I AM TAKING SO LONG BUT SOO OMUCH HAPPENED
Okay imma slow down.
Wow what a crazy last 10ish days, so to start off.. I got transfered to enriquillo baraona! And for those of you that dont know, its also known as mission paradise! Our house is within 30 seconds (walking) from the beach, and out of all the missionaries here, the lord put me here with another awesome elder from my group (elder diamond) and were blanking out the area! So prayers are accepted! Haha but its really so cool, and were working so hard. Just puttin our trust in him because he called us here, and knows what we can do!
Its suuuper pretty here, the water is soo blue and ah im in love. The people here seem more friendly than the people of cambita, I dont know if thats like real or if im just biased.. haha. Our ward mission leader is a 17 year old, and we are in the smallest (Or one of the smallest) branches in the mission. But we live with 2 other AWESOME elders, one from the philippines that speaks 5 languages (yes 5 (3 languages from the philipines, english, and spanish)) and one elder from idaho! oh their names (thats important) elder de la merced, and elder erickson (he is a duke fan so watch out)
Anyways we take bucket showers so still no warm water dang it, but i did go to the office of the mission and was able to take a warm shower and i was stunned... We really have things good in the states, take advantage everyone, it was fantastic. But yes we are just doing a lot of contacting and finding a lot of people! We actually have 4 baptismal dates, working on 6! So excited, we are loving it here :)
So you may ask yourselves "why did he title this email "The time i became best friends with a pole"" Well, thats because I spent the last 2 days in the hospital for parasites! We went to baraona on monday to get a test, and found out i had paraites still! So we werent able to go home and grab like a change of clothes, or toothbrushes or anything cuz it was already 1, and the last bus to the capital leaves at like 1:30, so we just went straight to the capital with the clothes on our backs! We got there and we went and got burger king cuz we had just traveled like 5 hours in a bus from our area, and there are NO burger kings there let me assure you all. We just really were lookin to take advantage of the opportunity. And from there we went to the office! From the office we went to the hospital, and i spent the next 2 days there, hooked up to an iv pole that became my best friend! We did everything together. Haha but it was a rather painfully boring experince because there was nothing to do... we left everything home. But the assistants brought us kfc once and mcdonalds twice, i felt like i was just back in utah! And actually one of the times the assistants came (at 12:00 am) the mission president (president santos) came with them! that suprised me, but it was so cool that the mission president brought me a double bacon cheeseburger and 12:00 am.
Anyways we are loving it here, i am perfectly fine. Thank you so much for all the people who are supporting me here, love you guys!!
Elder Murphy
