Semana 18--Nacho Libre

Hey everyone i hope we are all doing well here!!

Its elder murphy writing from the DR.  Still dont feel like im on an island but i guess thats the case!  Haha

But hey this week was really good!  We haad transfers!  I am going to stay in cambita for another transfer with elder rodgers as my new companion!  (the other white guy that i live with) And im excited for the next 6 months, even if theyre difficult!  But yeah things are going great around here.  All the dominicans are in the christmas spirit and have started all the parties and drinking and yeahhhhhhh.  Haha its super funny and super bizzare but thats just how this country is.

But yeah just a funny story we were coming home from a baptism at night, and our chiquito carrito broke down at like 9 and we had to push it to the nearest gas station about 30 minutes.  The whole time we were pushing it i had people yelling: "Gringo give me your visa" and just the most hispanic music in the back ground.  Felt like i was straight up in a scene from nacho libre haha.  But yeah it was quite the experience.  Felt like i was gonna straight up get mobbed cuz we were just stuck and so dark but it was good hah gotta face my fears right??

But yeah.  Whos so pumped for christmas??  MMEEEEEE.  Oh man i do love the christmas spirit.  We cant leave the house i dont think on the 24th or 25th because of how dangerous it is... but yeah im pumped to kick it in the house and do all the crazy activities  we can do indoors!! woooo!!!  also i dont think we can leave new years... I needa get a comfirmation on these answers haha cuz really i dont know that well yet, once president tells us for sure i guess ill know.

But okay so this week i was feelin a little exhausted and tired and kinda without hope cuz a bunch of appointments fell and a bunch of people who were doing so good just dropped.  But then I came across a scripture in alma 37, verse 6.  It just says that through small and simple things god brings about his work, and that miracles happen through these things.  that scripture literally pierced my heart.  It was just the most incredible feeling to know that really god is there for us in the small moments and the big ones, and most of all, that all the small little things really do add up.  This has kind of been my modo for my whole life, and really i just know its so true.  I know that god works miracles in the lives of people through small and simple things, as he has worked for me.  So many changes can come from doing the simple things right... going to church, reading the scriptures, praying, etc... Challenge all of you to do that this week.  Do something small and simple for your neighbor, you really are the answer to their prayer.  I know that christ lives and i know he loves everyone.  He loves you all and is always there.

Have a great week you guys!

Elder Murphy
