Buenos!!!

Hello everyone its your friendly elder murphy writing today

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL LOVING WONDERFUL SISTER AUBRIE!!!!  You are the most amazing girl, what an inspiration you have been to me, thank you for being my best friend.  16 years old huh?  Dont crash the car PLEASE.  I love you so so much, thanks for all the mcdonalds runs, playing tennis and legos, and everything else we did.

So we had splits on friday!!  Holy cow so cool.  What a humbling experience.  I was with a native speaker from the DR, he was 20 months into the mission!  The cool thing is, I could actually talk with and understand him, although I speak fairly slow hahahaha.  Okay very slow.  This spanish gig is a hard thing.  Anyways.  Me, him, and another elder from the CCM were in a trio.  We took the subway to a really poor area, and wow.  It was an eye opener.  We walked through this tiny little village and the houses were little shacks with tin roofs.  But the people were so happy and friendly.  We yelled doors (because theres no door to knock) you kinda just yell and walk in.  We taught an investigator, and that was interesting.  The lesson was good but understanding the family was kind of hard.  We talked about the restoration of the gospel and the grandma (who was catholic) started going off on our senior companion ahahhah she was like yellin, but my comp was so cool, he knew the perfect way to calm the situation down and bring the spirit back.  Really cool, I want to be like him.
After that we walked through the village more and we talked to a member. This old lady was so sweet and kind, we shared scripture and testimony with her, and the spirit was just awesome.  God truly knows, loves, and knows what each one of his children needs.  We rode a gwagwa around to get back to the CCM and those things are so much fun!  Its like an extremely small mini van that you fit 10 or so people in.  Hahahah they were blasting drake in the gwagwa so that was cool I guess ðŸ˜‚.  That is a very short summary of our splits on friday, it was incredible.  Oh also I had some freaking fantastic juice, and it didnt destroy my stomach so we all goodie.

Um the hurricane is about the same as irma, its just raining like crazy.  Not much is really happening though haha its not hitting us too bad.  We sure have been blessed here in santo domingo, we've been avoiding all of the damage.

Oh cool story on sunday!!  So we had a devotional with a member of the 70 (elder alonso) and right before the devotional (like 10 min) elder malone and I were asked to play a special musical number.  We were freakin out cuz it was so on the spot, but we hurried and made a plan of what we were gonna do, and practiced it in another room like once.  Stressed out, i prayed that we could have the spirit with us as we pray, and that our music would invite it.  Boy did it ever.  We couldn't have played that good if we'd practiced for 10 weeks.  Through faith we can do anything.  The spirit was so strong and it was truly an incredible experience.

Anyways I've got 0 time left to write, I wont be writing for a week in a half because I leave to the field tueday, and my next email won't be until the following monday.  Have a good week everyone!!
