Segunda Semana
Hey everyone! what a week. It flew by so quick, much quicker than the first week haha. Well, this email will be a lot more organized than the last one since I'm not as rushed for time.
To start off, I got a dominican hair cut last week! He finished it in about 5 minutes, and I think I had the worst headache ever afterwards. YOu know those giant balls you find at an amusement park? THey're all wet and made of marble, and they roll in the same place because little kids are constantly pushing, jerking, and smacking them? They have one at lagoon I'm pretty sure. Well thats what my head was mistaken for during that haircut! I was getting yoinked around and pushed this way and that, holy crap. Mom. I would take your haircuts back in a heartbeat. I was so ungrateful! Hahah at least It looks alright. Heres a daily sched of the mtc
6:00 wake up, prayer, get ready, read "our search for happiness" with the roomates. I took a 2 minute shower. This is from the time I close the door and start the water to when I'm out and changed into my G's. Pretty good huh? thats the record so far.
7:00 breakfast. always gross haha
7:45-8:45 personal study, I love this
9:00-12:00 spanish class/investigator teaching
12:00-1:00 chicken beans and rice, aka lunch
1:00-4:00 study class, without a teacher. Aka time to memorize stuff and practice the language on your own
4:00-5:00 physical time
5:00-6:00 dinner
6:00-9:00 evening spanish class/2nd investigator
9:00-10:30 read, get ready for bed, study, journals.
On wednesdays we get to do service and we get to go to the temple every thursday so thats way fun! Sundays here are awesome because theyre purely gospel. So cool and so spiritual.
So thats that haha. Its a lot of work but its so awesome. The power goes out here about once a day. It surprised me at first but now I'm surprised if it doesn't go out. So we got out of the walls of the MTC and went to the store! So cool to walk around santo domningo and see the people and the culture. Absolutely gorgeous and very interesting haha. You can get a bottle of coke for .50 and any other soda for about .25 so thats way way lit. Everything here is way cheap. I loaded up on stuff to snack on, burt I miss american food. So that was awesome. May I just say, the eople here are so freaking nice. They constantly wave to us and say hello, I'm so excited to really meet them on the field.
So my room has a door that connects to another room, but the door is locked. However, theres no door handle, just an empty hole. Theres a shelf in front of our door and one in front of the door in the other room, so our room and the other room moved the shelves out of the way for a second, got 2 cans, some dental floss, and made one of those cute little make shift phones. So we thought that was clever lol we used it like once and havent used it since. Cool idea though lol.
So we teach a different investigator in our morning and eveining classes. It's hard but elder paolo and I are improving and the language along with it. I've kind of accepted that I'm going to mess up a million times before I'm able to speak fluently, so I may as well start now. Teaching in a foreign language is so hard but you really need to speak your language in order to learn it. So the other day during physical time, everyone wsas playing basketball. I looked at another court and saw 3 dominican kids (I later found out they were 11, 14, and 15) and decided to go play with them instead. WE had some fun 2v2 games haha they were actually super good. I was lovin it until I found out they were warriors fans, and they liked steph curry, kevin durrant, and draymond green. lol. haha cute kids I love them and this place. Generally during exercise time elder paolo and I go run, life, play ball, or ping pong. Just depends on the day, but its always nice to do that cuz we aren't outside much. It sure is nice to get some fresh air and move around a little.
Last night we started tie trade tuesdays. I made off with some cool ones and got rid of some that I dont like so that was sweet. Also, you know how people say missionaries "have that glow about the?" well i figured out what it was. Sweat. lots of it. hahaha. IT's so hot and humid every day! They keep the mtc nice and cool so thats a plus.
Okay so the other night, I noticed I had a giant bit on my chest. Like were talking the size of a hockey puck almost. more like an air hockey puck but still big haha. Was it a spider? was it a centipede? No one knows. But I did the smart thing and ignored a huge mysterious bit in a foreign country so thats good. It's gone now lol so no worries momma.
So sunday we listened to a talk by elder bednar, about charity. As I thought about it I wondered if I could follow christ better and become more charitable. I've prayed for help in doing so and gave it my best effort. My days have been so much better beacuse of it. When you love everyone, turn out instead of turning in, become more humble, and seek to help others and not yourself first, you become closer to heavenly father and his word, which is christ. If we can plant the word (christ) inside of us, like a seed, and grow it so deeply and nourish it constantly, it will never leave us. We will be happier, be blessed, and through this we can help others come unto him and be healed, forgiven, and happy. Have a good week yo!

Cross country boys! KEep working your butts off. You guys make me so proud and I love you all. Also, I lost to brother cuevas again in ping pong. I was up 10-6 and lost 12-10. I felt like the warriors blowing a 3-1 lead. Such a disapointment to the city of orem. peace out for reals!
